Why use a Travel Specialist versus booking myself online?
When you use a travel professional you will get the best options for your vacation dollar. Travel professionals also will trouble shoot and advocate when necessary. Online Travel Agencies do not have the personal relationships with the suppliers as a smaller company would. Many times they won’t even answer your call.
Travel Specialist also have access to travel you may never knew was possible.
Does it cost more to book with you? If not, how do you get paid?
No! Your rate is the same as if would if you go directly to the supplier. An example of a supplier is Sandals or Uniworld. Through my consortia, Ensamble, or wholesalers like Classic Vacations, may afford me to pass along a more competitive price, value, and or amenities you would not normally receive when going direct.
I get paid through the suppliers by commission just like the online booking engines. I will charge an administrative fee when there is a large group. Fees will vary with the size and details of the party.
What if I need to cancel my trip? Is there a penalty?
Depending on how far in advance you cancel your reservation, cancellation penalties will vary from supplier to supplier. I will give you the cancellation policy with your reservation. Although, it is best to be certain of your travel plans and dates before confirming your reservation, something may arise. Travel insurance is also available so that you can protect yourself from the unexpected.
I see that Health and Wellness Retreats are your specialty. Do you do any other group planning?
Yes! We are a Health and Wellness Certified Agency. We also love planning destination weddings, affinity groups and family reunions.
I have a non-profit organization and I see that you raise money for them. How do you contribute?
I contribute by holding fundraisers and giving a portion of my commission up to $100.00 back to the charity. I work with few vendors that will do a matching donation as well. Non profit organizations do not get charge an administrative fee for large groups.
I am a facilitator and or Practitioner planning a retreat. Am I eligible for group amenities? Can I still incorporate my fee?
Yes to both! Your group is entitled to all of the amenities that the supplier allows. The only difference with working with me is I have the relationships and experience to get your group the best value and service. Your attendees will receive personalized attention from the start of the booking process.
Why does my documents have “Travel Planners International” on them instead of “Discover Gaia Travel”?
For DGT to get you, the buyer, more value for your vacation dollar we partner with Travel Planners International as our host agency. They are able to give the best value and experience, as we are 1000+ travel professionals strong.
I am a special needs traveler; In what ways can you help me?
Discover Gaia is a Special Needs Certified Agency. Elise has personal experience with designing travel for many needs and has the recourses to accommodate any different ability or food allergies you may have. Note: Not all suppliers especially in Europe can accommodate all needs. Elise is a proud parent of Sydney who is Down Syndrome with complications and dietary restrictions.
Do you serve the LGBTQ community?
YES! We do not discriminate against any race, color, creed, sexual orientation and religious practice. We will be sure your destination is safe to travel as some countries still have LGBTQ restrictions.
If I have an unexpected problem while traveling who do I call?
Most suppliers have a 24/7 hotline. If not, you are encouraged to call me as soon as possible so the problem can be fixed immediately.
